Welcoming new staff at NCI

The NCI Induction process is part of not only compliance aspects of employment in NCI but also engaging the new staff member to ensure they have the best onboarding experience when starting their career in NCI.Induction is a strategic priority for the HR Department together with EDI, that ensures staff members have a full knowledge of our policies and processes, from Dignity at Work, a guide to disability through to staff education benefits. Each department of the college presents to new staff members which allows them to understand where their role fits in the overall college landscape.

The HR Induction program takes place over 6-8 weeks annually for all new recruits hired in the preceding year. To ensure we offer an inclusive experience, there is a weekly online induction delivering key information. We also have an in-person meet and greet where new staff can meet the Executive Group of the college and attend a presentation from the President. This is a warm and welcoming event with refreshments and a welcome pack for all attendees. Then individual departments may have a local induction in which they run through the structure of their department. We run induction in October each year and we continue to refine our Induction Programme to ensure it delivers the best start for new staff.
